L.L.Bean “Boat and Totes” — while classic — have, apparently, been enjoying a particular moment in the sun thanks to the spread of the ironic monogram trend (popularized by this Instagram account: @ironicboatandtote). Check out this New York Magazine piece on the concept — “Fuck Greg Abbott” is pretty, pretty good. However, I got a new Boat and Tote in the color “Natural,” and opted for no monogram. While I have a few old, monogrammed (regular initials style) Boat and Totes scattered around the house (at this point serving as depositories for winter gear and other random items that needed a home), I saw, via Instagram, the very chic Megan Alida Strachan traveling with a plain one and thought it looked fresh and delightful. Strachan’s overall aesthetic certainly helps – I was recently quite surprised to find out from listening to her on the Second Life podcast that she hails from my own home state of Colorado; I thought for sure she was like, a Parisienne. In any case, I copied her and I’m loving it.
